Public relations agencies are doing social media. Advertising agencies are doing public relations. Marketing agencies are doing media buying. And we’re all digital and influencer marketing specialists. If we all stuck to our core strengths, our clients will ultimately win. Effective agency collaboration requires client objectives to be aligned, clearly defined roles and responsibilities, and most importantly a relationship based on mutual trust and open communication. It also requires egos to be left at the door, and absolutely no eye-rolling.

The saying, “a jack of all trades but a master of none” will need not apply as long as each agency in the team sticks to its core strengths, and acknowledges that while they may be excellent at X, another agency will be amazing at Y. This is exactly how the RocoMama’s #ElectionBurger campaign played out and saw two agencies working together seamlessly to help their client achieve its business objectives. The results of this campaign were phenomenal, with RocoMama’s lauding it as its most successful campaign in its three year history.

Nicky is the co-owner and senior consultant at Tribeca with over 15 years PR experience. She started the agency in 2006 with her business partner Cian Mac Eochaidh.

Over her PR career, Nicky has gained extensive public relations and communications experience across consumer, technology, eventing, financial services and corporate PR           sectors in South Africa, Africa and working with a multitude of multi-national clients across the globe. Nicky’s passion lies in seeing the direct results that public relations has on       her clients’ business objectives.

Under her leadership, Tribeca has been a Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA) PRISM Award winner every year since the company was started.
